Kundapur: Enraged Man Tries to Kill Mother-in-law

Daijiworld Media Network - Kundapur (SP)

Kundapur, Apr 9: A complaint was filed in Kollur police station in the taluk on Sunday April 8, against a person who allegedly tried to kill his mother-in-law. He was reportedly angry that the lady was not ready to give her other daughter in marriage to him as per his wishes.

Ganapati from Bastiberu Mavinakodlu in the taluk has been named as the accused. Ganapati, who runs a petty shop in his native village, had loved and married Bhavani, second daughter of Gulabi from Mavinakodlu Balemudi village, three years back. He has two children.

After marrying Bhavani, he had expressed his wish to marry Bhavani’s sister, but Gulabi was against this alliance. It is said that he continued to put pressure on Gulabi to fulfill his demand.

Making use of the opportunity when his mother-in-law was alone at home on Saturday afternoon, Ganapati visited her again, and brought pressure on her on the issue. When she deftly opposed his demand, he injured her neck with his knife, and hit her head with a pestle, it is said. Gulabi, who suffered injuries, got admitted into a private hospital here, and filed a complaint with the police.

Some people are using the comments space to spread hatred at times pouring oil in fire between 2 communities, sometimes making absurd senseless comments in order to push their fundamentalist agenda. After reading such comments, I do not feel like visiting my favorite website for Mangalore news for days...it puts me off....As residents of South Kanara and staying side by side with all communities, we all know by now which community is going to lag behind and resort to more fundamentalism as India progresses instead of the other way around in future India.

    Mr Sachidananda Shetty/Dubai,

Please read my comments with open mind. I never criticised hindu rituals nor I do have hate for my hindu brothers. I just questioned is it allowed to marry ones wifes sister in your customs.. I know its not allowed. /Then why this person is pressing for his mother in law to give consent to his demand??? Hindu marriage act 1958 allows only one marriage, which means he cant have two living wives. He can marry second time if he has no living wife (dead)... You hate muslims, which is known from your comments.. If your stomach is full of hatred for muslims, why are you living and earninga decent livelihood in an Islamic country like UAE. You want muslim countrys dirhams but you dont leave a single opportunity to bash and attack them... Law should be applicable to all equally. If a muslim is planting bomb please catch him and kill him.. Who cares. But at the same tone, catch hold of non muslim terrorists who have planted bombs in samjotha express, malegaon, mecca masjid and ajmir. and try them. But your favourites organisations like BD/RSS are against their prosecution and they throw their weight behind these criminal activits and justify their act...You will find black sheeps in all communities. MOhan Kumar who killed as many as 30 women are being protected by these fundamental outfits. Try to call spade a spade... If you want peace, justice should be applied in equal measures. Justice denied or injustice done shall always result in more problems and there shall not be peace. Wounded lion doesnt keep quiet but surely pounce back on the attackers..Try to understand the meaning of equality of justice system. Do any UAE nationals do injustice to you, if done, authorities shall give you justice here without looking at your faith or nationality. Majorities cant do injustice to the minorities or vice versa.. Then only rule of law shall prevail. For achieving ultimate and enduring peace, equality of justice is a pre requirement. Good luck to you.

This Guy Shahnawaz or whatever does not seem to be having any work and commenting on almost everything objectionably. Not funny. Try and put things in order in your own house first before passing judgements on others. Good for you.

Dear Shahnawaz, please refrain from making any comments on Hindu rituals, tradition and law. You have no moral rights to make any comments on Hindu religion since you are not follower of this religion moreover you people hate our religion too. Till date VHP or RSS or BD always expresses their concern when minority people involved in “Murgi Chor, Cow or buffalo Chor, Bomb Blast, Kidnap, Convert and Marriage” only. They never object for your 2nd, 3rd or 4th marriage till date. Moreover they never interfere in your religious rituals too.
In this particular case, we have to see whether Ganpati’s first wife gave her consent to marry her Sister and also her Sister should give her willingness to marry him too. Else he has no right to go for second marriage as per any religions rule prevailing in all over the world. But he should be punished for attacking his Mother-in-Law, because this cruel person fails to understand the very definition of Mother-in-Law too. People like Kumaraswamy or Ravi Belegere always talk about morality but did they follow the rule of Hindu religion by restricting themselves marry at once only?

Where is BDs now...Why cant they stop Ganapati marrying his own sister in law??? Is it Hindu culture to marry two sisters???? Where is VHP and HJV???? They are good in minority bashing. Evils in their community members are ignored. What a double standard.....
