Dharwad, April 10 (DHNS): A primary schoolteacher was suspended for writing the mathematics paper for an SSLC student, at Basel Mission English Medium High School examination centre, in Dharwad on Monday.

Hemanth, the primary schoolteacher, has been accused of writing the mathematics paper for student Maruthi Dumaal.

The teacher has confessed to having committed the act before the officers of the education department.

Moreover, the DDPI has  relieved all the supervisors appointed to the centre of exam duties for flouting the norms.

Speaking to Deccan Herald BEO Girish Padaki said he received information around 1:45 pm soon after the completion of the SSLC mathematics paper that a teacher was writing the paper of Dumaal.

Officers of the Education Department rushed to the spot.

Their suspicion grew stronger after they spotted the teacher roaming about in the examination centre in a suspicious manner.

All the invigilators were instructed to collect the answer scripts at 1:45 pm and report at the main office at 1:55 pm.

However, Hemanth has been accused of writing the mathematics paper outside the examination hall and well beyond the exam hour, Padaki said.

Probe

A detailed probe is on to find out how the teacher is related to the student he added.

According to sources, a gang is active in the city, which approaches students having poor track record and later ropes in teachers to write the exam papers for them. For six subjects, a teacher is paid Rs 30,000.
