Kasargod, Apr 10: The body of a quarry labourer was found near a house under construction at Poinachi, near here, on Monday April 9.

The deceased has been identified as 52-year-old K Balakrishnan Nair, a resident of Shastankote, and a CPI (M) activist.  His decomposed body was found at his own partially constructed house on Monday morning.

Nair had informed his family that he was going to his other house located at Taravadu in Karicchery, near here, on Sunday April 8. The locals had seen him at a shop in Toovali at about 9 pm on Sunday.  His dead body was found at about 7 am on Monday.

The locals suspect it was a murder and that he was slain elsewhere and dumped at Ponnachi.

The sniffer dogs, accompanied by policemen, are working on clues that can lead to nabbing the alleged killers.

Bekal police registered a case and investigations are under way.
