M'lore: National Safe Motherhood Day Observed at Laxmi Memorial College

Mangalore, Apr 12: National Safe Motherhood Day was celebrated on Wednesday April 11 to provide awareness to the pregnant mother in promoting safe motherhood. The OBG nursing department of Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing celebrated this day on Wednesday April 11 at Kula Kunjathbail Anganwadi, Devinagar.

Bharathi M, secretary and Jayamani Poovayya, treasurer, Nandini Mahila Mandal were the chief guests for the inaugural function.

Inauguration was done by lighting the lamp. Prof Theresa Leonilda Mendonca, vice principal and HOD of child health nursing, presided over the function. Sandhya D'Almeida, HOD OBG Nursing, addressed the significance of the day. Maria Deepthi Sequeira welcomed the gathering. Sunitha Lobo proposed the vote of thanks. Divya Veigus hosted the entire programme.

Health awareness programme with powerpoint presentation was given by third year B Sc nursing students. Around 40 mothers attended the function.
