Bangalore, Apr 12: The media personnel, who cried hoarse over their face-off and violent clashes with Bangalore’s lawyers at the beginning of last month in front of the city civil court complex when former Tourism and Infrastrcuture Minister G Janardhana Reddy was produced by the CBI police from Hyderabad to Bangalore in connection with illegal mining, have inexplicably shunned the one-man judicial inquiry commission ordered by the State Government so far.

Karnataka Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda had ordered a judicial inquiry by retired high court judge, Justice R G Vaidyanatha, to probe the violent incidents that shook the city on March 2 at the city civil court complex.

The media representatives had demanded a CBI probe into the entire incidents. Even the representatives of the Bangalore Advocates Association had demanded CBI probe and action against senior police officers, including the Bangalore City Police Commissioner Jyotiprakash Mirji, for their alleged high-handedness.

The State Government had quickly ordered a judicial inquiry and even framed the terms of reference besides appointing Justice Vaidyanatha to head the one-man inquiry commission.

Justice Vaidyanatha, who assumed charge and quickly issued notifications inviting all interested parties including the general public to file their affidavits, had even advertised in newspapers besides sending copies to different agencies.

However, according to the Justice Vaidyanatha judicial inquiry commission’s office, neither the media personnel nor the police personnel had filed even a single affidavit so far.

But the advocates and general public had come forward by filing as many as 38 affidavits so far.

In fact, the advocates are understood to have sought more time in gathering relevant information and file their affidavits. The stand of the media and police personnel with regard to the judicial inquiry commission is still not known.

Justice Vaidyanatha, apparently with a view to provide more opportunity to the media and police personnel to come forward and file their affidavits so as to enable a proper inquiry, has extended the time limit for filing affidavits almost by a month till May 10.

All concerned persons are requested to submit their affidavits in person in the office of the Commission at the first floor of Balabrooie Guest House (junction of Sankey Road and Palace Road), High Grounds, near Basava Bhavan, Bangalore 560052.

Affidavits may also be sent by registered post, says the a press release issued by the commission.
