Bantwal: 14 Couples Tie Knot at Mass Wedding Ceremony

Bantwal, Apr 17: Under the aegis of Navachetana Seva Trust and Karnataka state Dalit Mahasabha, a mass wedding programme was held as part of the birthday celebration of Dr B R Ambedkar at B C Toad on Sunday April 15.

Swami Muktanand of Karinje Mutt graced the occasion. Former MP Vinay Kumar Sorake inaugurated the programme.

Navachetana Seva Trust president Raja Pallamajalu presided over the programme. Coastal Development Authority chairman Nagaraj Shetty garlanded the portrait of Dr Ambedkar.

Town councilor B Dinesh Bhandary distributed wedding dresses and flower bouquets to the brides and bridegrooms.

ZP member Chandraprakash Shetty Thumbe, taluk Ambedkar Samaj Seva Sangh president Chandrashekar Veerakamba, Dr Shivaprasad Shetty, and Dinesh Pai were the chief guests on the occasion.

Fourteen couples were wedded in the mass wedding organized for the 11th successive year.

Study books were distributed to eligible students. A Yakshagana play and dance recital was held as part of the entertainment programme.
