Beltangady, Apr 17: The court here permitted Vittal from Kutloor Manila Hosamane, who has been arrested in connection with his alleged links with the naxals, on Monday April 16, to appear for his first year postgraduate degree course examination in journalism with police escort.

During the hearing relating to an application moved by Vittal seeking permission to appear for this examination on Friday last, the judge had announced that he would issue the orders on Monday.

Vittal, however, could not attend the internal examination on Monday, as the vehicle carrying Vittal for presenting him before the court upon conclusion of his judicial custody, had left Mangalore by the time the court order arrived at the jail by fax.

However, he is expected to take part in the remaining internal examinations since Tuesday.

The annual examinations are scheduled to be held with effect from May 9.
