Gokarna: Range Forest Officer Attacked

Gokarna, Apr 17 (The Hindu): A range forest officer was attacked with a sickle by two persons when forest officials tried to clear the encroachment on Paradise beach at Gokarna on Sunday April 17.

According to a complaint filed at the Gokarna police station, the forest department had cleared the encroachment few months ago on the Paradise beach, including the shop and the house of Mahadev Rama Naik. Following this, Mahadev and his son continued their business in the open place where their shop was located. On Saturday, Mahadev and his son Mahendra rebuilt the wall of the demolished shop.

 

On Sunday, Umesh Hombana Honnalli, range forest officer of Hosakuli, went to the spot with his staff and began demolishing the wall.

Enraged by this, Mahadev and his son attacked the range forest officer with a sickle. The officer suffered grievous injuries on his hand. He was rushed to the hospital and is said to be out of danger.

Police are investigating the case. Mahadev and Mahendra have been taken into custody.

    what is more criminal is the dirty and greasy green sheet on which the injured person is lying. what is the excuse for that? Have Indian people lost all sense of hygiene and human dignity?

    Those who attack the law enforcing officials should not be spared. The attacker and the mafia behind it should be thoroughly investigated and the guilty should be severely punished. If not, these rouges will have confident to attack and break laws time and again.
