Mangalore: Police Seize Truck Transporting Livestock Illegally

Mangalore, Apr 18: The city police arrested four persons accused of illegally and inhumanely transporting livestock in Suratkal on Tuesday April 17. The livestock were being transported in a truck from Udupi to Kerala.

Suratkal police on a sure tip-off intercepted the truck at Mukka check post at about 5.30 am on Tuesday, and conducted a search. The police found 20 buffaloes that were inhumanely loaded onto the truck and covered with tarpaulin to hoodwink patrolling policemen. The police seized the buffaloes, a Tavera MUV that was escorting the truck, and the truck. The buffaloes arenow sheltered at Fajir.

The police arrested Srinoji Vargeese and Abdul Khader, both residents of Kasargod, Cherkala resident Sunil Kumar, and Alampady resident Abdul Rehman.

Suratkal police registered a case in this regard.

    I am wondering what will happen to the rescued cattle.
    No one will adopt them. No temple will give them shelter.
    No Hindu's will come forward to look after them.
    The cops do not have enough funds or place to look after them.
    I am sure that they will be sold off on the sly to some butcher!.
    An animal (Chicken, Goat, Cow, Buffalo etc) along with humans has to die one day.
    How they die is a mystery - By accident, by slaughter, by war etc. etc.
    Why is there so much hype about rescuing the cattle?
    Let us know the follow up as to what did happen to the rescued cattle. I have read more than 100 articles about cattle being rescued by some organizations. But what happened to them?
    Can someone like NAGESH NAYAK MAMU throw some light on this?
