Beltangady, Apr 20: The Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) exchanged fire with Naxalites at Kutlur forest in Kutlur-Panjala forest under Naravi gram panchayat here on Friday April 20.

The ANF personnel were conducting combing operation in the forest, when, at around 6 pm, Naxalites hiding among trees opened fire at them.

The ANF personnel too replied with rounds of firing. However, no one was injured on either side. The Naxalites managed to escape.

It may be mentioned here that Naxalites Dinakar who was killed in an encounter way back in 2006 and Vittal and his father Linganna who were arrested last month were also from the same area.

Additional forces have been deployed at the spot, and combing operations are on.
