Kasargod: Mob Turns Violent in Kadappura

Kasargod, Apr 20: Mob violence was reported in Kadappura, near Hosdurg, on Thursday April 19.

The tomb of Sufi saint Pokoi Tangal located in Kadappura was damaged by the mob. Three persons were injured in stone pelting in the mob violence that occurred at about 8.30 pm on Thursday.

The mob set ablaze the house of Sujala Balakrishna, a fisherwoman in Kadappura. Jewellery worth Rs 60,000 and title deed of the house were gutted in the fire. The mob attacked house owner Balakrishna.

Liquor and soda bottles were pelted through the window panes of the house owned by K Gafoor, an entrepreneur who owns a business in Qatar. The houses of Parkar Mohammed Ali, T K Moidu, Hassainar, Ramla, Ramadasan, Ravi, Chiru Amma, Vatsalan, Pushpa Vijayan, Ganga, Sarojini, Madhavi, Salguna, Pramod, Balan, Abdul Rehman and Sakina were also damaged by the mob that went berserk after an electricity blackout. The mob violence was effectively curbed by additional forces which arrived from the district headquarters.

Policemen led by SP S Surendran are camping at the location to prevent recurrence of any violence.
