Mangalore: Young Singers Learn Nuances of Voice at 'Vocal Touch' Workshop

Mangalore, Apr 22: Jossie Moras, vocal coach and choral director, Melodia Music Studio, Dubai conducted 'Vocal Touch', a voice training session at the Centenary Memorial Hall, Jeppu Church Compound here on Sunday, April 22.

Budding singers aged between 6 and 13 years from different communities participated in this half day session and got trained on the basics of singing.

Melvyn Rodrigues, Konkani poet and director, operations, Daijiworld Media Pvt Ltd inaugurated the workshop.

"When God created this universe, he created music too. Music is there in the flow of water streams, in the flow of wind, chirping of birds and cry of animals. When evolution of mankind reached its prime stage, he started imitating these sounds, which he could hear around him. Thus languages were born and so also the art of singing," Melvyn said while inaugurating the workshop.

"Giving ear to the various sounds around us is nothing but learing music. It simply means giving respect to the various lives created by God around us," Melvyn contiuned.

"All the participants must feel proud because they have a maestro like Jossie Moras for this workshop, who is qualified both in western as well as eastern singing and music," he said and wished the workshop all success.

Jossie Moras, who has conducted several 'Vocal Touch' training sessions for the young and adults in the UAE, Doha, Oman, and other parts of India, conducted this workshop wherein he touched upon subjects like the anatomy of human voice - learning how the human voice works in speaking and singing; physical processes involved in producing sound; techniques of ‘breathing for singing’; focus on posture and breath-management; exercises for voice warm-up and breathing techniques; instructions on articulation, diction and communication in singing boy’s changing voice; voice care and songs/ music meant for children.

An interactive session followed the workshop.

Earlier, Fr Nelson D'Almeida, parish priest, Jeppu Church invoked God's blessings on the workshop.

Lancy Madtha, managing director, Integrated Freight and Logistics, Dubai was present on the occasion. He along with Merit Freight Systems LLC Dubai and Felix Security Systems sponsored the workshop.

    It was indeed a unique and beautiful experience of mine being a participant in this marvellous workshop. Thanx to Mr Jossie Moras, for being so generous in sharing and by dealing these aspects in this workshop. Eventhough just of it i knew previously, U had helped me/us to put it together and apply the same in our day today life. thanx again, and may God bles graciously all Ur efforts.
