Palash Sen Alleges Aamir's 'Satyamev Jayate' of Copyright Breach

Mumbai, May 8: Superstar Aamir Khan's TV show 'Satyamev Jayate', which is creating ripples across India with its no-nonsense and practical approach to important social issues, is in the midst of a copyright controversy over its theme song.

Euphoria band's lead singer Palash Sen has claimed that parts of the song have been copied from the band's old song by the same name. He has also filed a complaint against Ram Sampath, the music composer of Aamir's show, and demanded that credit be given to Euphoria.

On why the notice has been sent only now despite the fact that the song had become popular ever since the show's promos began a month ago, he Sen's PR manager said that the band was touring and performaing at various places and was hence unaware of the copyright breach. He said that team learnt about it on Facebook and immediately sent legal notice to Star India and Aamir Khan Productions

"We have not yet received any response on it. Our legal team will be in touch with their legal advisers. We just want them to give us credit because the entire song is around the chorus of our song Satyamev Jayate from our album in the year," he added.

However, Ram Sampath has denied the claim and is getting ready to defend himself. Expressing confidence that he his name would be cleared by the court, he asked people to listen to both versions of the son (his and Palash Sen's) and decide for themselves.

"Satyamev Jayate is a show that raises important, pertinent issues of national concern and I would not like attention to be diverted from them. Therefore, I am more than happy to clear my name in court as I have great faith in the Indian judiciary. Our team is preparing a strong fitting reply. I also request people to listen to the two songs before jumping to conclusions," Ram Sampath said in a statement.

    One point: how can one listen to 'both versions'of the son? as is written in the penultimate paragraph?
    Second Point: It should be 'Satyameva' not 'Satyamev'...

    I saw a part of this show on female feticide and the ill treatment of mothers who bore female children. It brought tears to the eyes of the viewers as well as people on the show. Though we are aware of this malady in our Society the poignancy of the need to curb it had not reached the society. Now we are aware that it is not the uneducated but the so called elite, educated people who indulge in this vile practice. So I have a feeling that this copyright issue that has raised its head now, is only to divert the minds of the public from the real problem and get them involved in a controversy that will take them away from the main issue. This definitely is the ploy of the culprits who want this female feticide in India to Continue. However, we wish the show all the success in the world, despite this little irksome copyright breach, as it showcases the most rampant viles of our society which are dormant and not brought to the attention of the Public. God Bless Amir Khan for his efforts in this direction and kudos to his entire team in this venture. As the title of the show says may TRUTH WIN AND PREVAIL.
