Mulky, May 16: In a case, a person named Nagavendra Shetty (28), resident of Kinnigoli and the owner of Hotel Nagaraj died after being discharged from the Srinivas hospital, Mukka recently in mysterious circumstances.

Nagaraj was admitted to Srinivas hospital with Malaria. Dr Harish Rao and Dr Pradeep treated the patient for five days and sent him home when his condition seemed to improve.














However, He developed unusual pain in heart and was taken to the hospital again where the doctors treated him for a day and discharged him the next day saying it was nothing but gastric ailment. But his condition got worse and the family decided to take Nagavendra to another hospital.

Thereafter he was taken to A J Hospital. The patient breathed his last in A J hospital after five days of treatment. When asked for the reason for his death, the doctors of A J hospital said, he was brought late and he suffered infections in the body due to some allergy. The doctors suspect the allergy must have been due to the improper medication.

The family and the friends of deceased Nagavendra after hearing the death due to the improper treatment at Mukka Hosiptal staged protest in front of the same hospital and questioned the hospital authorities. They were ready to make compromise if the doctor asked pardon and assured to take good care of the patients henceforth.  But the doctors from Srinivas hospital Mukka denied the allegation saying they sent the patient home when he was in better condition.

A case was registered against the doctor and Managing director Dr Raghvendra of Srinivas hospital, Mukka.

It is learnt from police station that compromise has been reached at after a talk with the family and the doctors.

    When the treatment is unsuccessful it is easy to blame on other hospital after the death of the patient.public should be careful while getting the treatment.....

    1. When legal/ consumer court options are available in the civil society, they need to be respected and utilized. In case of real negligence, justice would be delivered.     It is a tragedy, young life has been taken away due to unprofessional job by the doctors.
    First of all they do not diagnose the case properly, besides, they do not have modern equipments & professionals. We need to have malpractice law & attorneys.

    a sad thing.did anyone done a blood test to say it was Malaria or infection? sometimes people just put fault on others without knowing ABC from diesease. Nowadays
    by one infection not always antibiotika will help.bakterias are not at all respond to antibiotiks They are resistant because some people dont take properly or half dosage .or they need higher dosage. one more thing many people dont know, with our food we take antibiotiks in without knowing. Nowadays for example chicken when you buy do you know from where it comes. how they were fed? to avoid infection in poultry do they give antibiotiks? or treat them.what food they get?important for us cheaper .it has its preis. NOwadays I heard without spray hardly you can grow veg. so all these veg. meat we eat better say medecine shows its effect when we get sick. I cant say where is gone wrong . its not seldom doctors give wrong medicine I myself had experience My son was given antibiotiks from his old praxis which is meant for lungs infection whereas he had tonsilities.I didnt know what it was .After two days as was not better I just went to a Pharmacist and got the Pencillin.I say for fun just study medicine and then go to a doctor suppose you are sick.Even in A.J. hospital did they do blood test to say infection?in India poor people believe what doctors say.thats very sad .Money plays also big part.Ieven heard malaria tabs also
    are not effektvoll.or they have just bad side effects thats what American soldiers reported as they were in Africa or Afganistan .Sorry a young life is disappeared whomever fault is.

    RE: Dr Kiran Acharya's comments. Can you please tell me how many doctors have been prosecuted in India for professional negligence. The avenues are just eye wash. You doctors think you are the God and act like you are above God. You scold the patients forgetting that you are giving a service for money. A simple incidence of one of my relatives sometime ago. He had an accident and bone infection after the surgery and hence high fever. The doctors were unnecessarily giving Malaria medication thinking it was Malaria. My another doctor relative who lives in England and happens to be a world famous surgeon had to write to them saying it is the bone infection and not Malaria.

    one should understand that diagnosis is only one part of the management of disease. either of the hospitals might have missed something, but even if detected, everything cannot be treated immediately. medcine is not like mathematics, regarding doctors earning money etc, most comments are totally baseless and unwarranted. the final thing is that everything is not in doctors hands, God still decides who lives on this earth.

    Patients are the teachers as doctors cannot know everything. Patients die and doctors lean more about illnesses and treatments that work and that don.t work. It's like pilot's error, Others learn a bit more.

    This is a disturbing trend in DK & Udupi districts. Birth of a new profession: Patient death- hospital bill negotiator!

    When a critically ill patient dies after best possible treatment by the hospital, a team of self proclaimed "social activists" are alerted by some hospital employees/ patients relatives (obviously for a tip).

    Then mediamen are "invited" to the hospital. In the media presence "negotiators" make a grand entry,take up the charge of "reducing" the hospital charges for a fee from the patients relatives.

    Hospital administrators are then threatened to waive the bill (again the negotiators make money here!)...if hospital authorities remain firm with their decision, they face vandalism at the hospital, negative publicity over media! The booty is shared by the “informants”, “mediamen” and “negotiators”…

    This trend would result in hospitals insisting on deposit money upon arrival of the patient...precious lives may be lost in the waiting period. If such incidents continue, some of the hospitals may refuse to admit the patient in serious cases fearing chaos.

    Please do not make the healthcare personnel insensitive by repeated publication of such news, which indirectly is an advertisement for "negotiators".

    If there is real negligence on the part of the hospital/ medical professional, there are many avenues where one can get justice. But the current trend seems to be a profitable "business" for some!

    All hospitals in M'lore are becoming research centres and all schools are becoming international.It's a crazy thing.In olden days if we had Malaria or Jaundice or typhoyd ,we used to get treatment from ordinary qualified doctors and get cured.We studied in local schools[not international].It's really a tragedy that the research doctors could'nt diagnose the disease in 5 days.Let Nagavendra's soul rest in peace.

    Now Hospitals one of the big business center.Doctors daily working more then 20 hospitals.monthly income more then 10 lacks.They will give U (public)to good treatment??? This like things everyday happens bcose Indian Rules nothing to this like careless Doctors. Health officers are sleeping.we dont know who is health officer.One thing will happen one day everyone fight agaist indian corrupt Rules and we need like GULF country Rules.That will change a Great "INDIA"

    Before cremation have an autopsy done do determine the cause of death - its that simple. Ck all the medications patient had - develop a systematic approach to cause of death. Its sad a young man is dead - my heartfelt sympathies.

    5 days in AJ Hospital and the patient breathed his last in A J hospital after five days of treatment. 5 days, he was not so serious?

    diffucult to comment on this. negligence is not easy to prove in any medical case.difficult to predict any one s reaction to any disease or treatment also, each individual is different. sad for the patient's family.
