Mumbai, Mar 22: Veteran actor Anupam Kher has lauded filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar 2, calling it an “outstanding” cinematic experience, while also criticising those labelling the film as propaganda.
Taking to Instagram, Kher shared a video expressing his admiration for the spy thriller and revealed that he personally called Dhar after watching the film to congratulate him.
Describing the movie as “an emotion” and “a journey,” Kher said it leaves a lasting impact on viewers. He also praised the performances of Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan and others.

In his video message, Kher strongly criticised a section of critics who termed the film as propaganda or jingoistic. “People who call it a propaganda film should be ashamed of themselves,” he said, adding that such reactions reflect a lack of understanding.
He also said the film portrays modern India and showcases the strength of its systems and agencies, stating that it would make every Indian feel proud.
Praising Ranveer’s performance, Kher—who has also been an acting teacher—said, “Your body language, your simmering anger and your emotional depth are outstanding,” adding that certain scenes deeply moved him.
Responding to the praise, Ranveer expressed gratitude, saying Kher’s words meant a great deal to him as someone inspired by his work.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar 2 continues the story of an Indian spy navigating the underworld and tackling terror networks, while also exploring the origins of the lead character. The film also stars Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi in key roles.
Released on March 19, the film has reportedly crossed the Rs 300 crore mark at the Indian box office within three days.
