Mangalore: Tension Prevails at Coaching Centre, Students Assault Staff

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (BG)

Mangalore, Jun 21: Tension prevailed at Bright Tutorials, located in Karavali College of Fashion Technology campus here on Thursday June 21, when a group of students allegedly assaulted a staff and a bus driver.

Bright Tutorials is set up inside the Karavali College campus, having taken a portion of the campus land on rent. It provides coaching to students for competitive exams like CET and KAS. Students are required to pay Rs 7,000 a month, including tuitions, accomodation and food.

It is said that the food is bad and even the hostel is not upto the mark. The food as well as the hostel is unhygienic, say students who hail from far-off places like Bellary, Davangere, Dharwad, Hubli and others.

However, the chaos erupted not over facilities or hygiene, but over the declaration of holidays in the wake BJP 'jail bharo' protest to be held on Friday June 22.

The management reportedly announced a break in the classes saying that due to the protest, there might be problems in the city and it would be better to go back home to their villages, and return next week. Already, 22 out of the 30 days of coaching were over.

Angered at this decision, the students began protesting against the management. The issue snowballed into a full-fledged physical clash, resulting in the students allegedly assaulting a member of the faculty and the bus driver.

Mangalore rural police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. No case was registered as the two parties reached a compromise.

@PAPPU DESAI/SUDHEER/KIRAN. About your sweeping the percentage (2.5) & (14.50) in your comment. I think you must have forgotten that, the same percentage of your community are settled all over the world. Do not invite troubles to them. Remember the moment you start sweeping minorities in India, your people who are living as minorities in other countries will also be swept away. So, keep your master Golwalkar's or Hitler's Theory with you & destroy yourself. Don't even dare to make such mistakes.

@kiran, mangalore, First of all please your history knowledge. In India especially in Mangalore I have always felt safest and welcome, because there was division until BJP came to power. Even today I am very much safe because I know 99% of people know what is right and wrong. It is because of BD, RSS and VHP the venom is flowing unabated in and around Mangalore. Now the same people have seen the BJP govt. in Karnataka and its development. Sadly we common man have no other alternative other than these two corrupt and communal parties called CONGRESS and BJP. Still I believe Mangalore is the safest place on earth for me.

See someone by wearing orange colour band and shawl we cannot say that they belong only to bajrangies and it's outfits they can be also some politically motivated goondas who are doing wrong things in the name of bajrangies. So please think practically and then comment and not in support of any political parties or religion. Again i am telling you that i have just given my view points here. So please dont copy paste comments of others with half knowledge like church attack, pub attack etc. Those are the things which happened in the past which is definately not good, but we have to keep moving on and think about future. Also remember apart from pub attack and church attack there are many things which our country has to be worried about. So please comment on your own thinking.I have given my view points here.

Fight for Rights !!!! that is what the situation seems like...... But I admire the photographer of this story , he has done a really daring and his job is to be appreciated, as he could capture all the angles of the fight that was happening in the Karavali campus. But didn't he stop a second to think that why don't I indulge in b/w and stop this fight, become a peacemaker ?????? At one angle, a guy is almost strangling the neck of the other......????? What the hell is happening to our world, people are there around you not to help, but just to capture the moments and make a Top Story on the newsdesk !!!!! It's not just to this particular Photographer that I am making a remark but to almost all of us who see corrupt incidents happen in public, make a video of it from thier cellphones and upload it on YouTube and then feel good about the number of Likes that hit on the video ???? Money derived from same will be utilised for religious purposes. Just think only for 2.5% do need so many schools/colleges?. Even in some institutions catholics barred to give admission. What will happen if majority people back-up to learn in convent schools - it looks like nothing but 'ghost house' good to picturise 'horror films'.
