Dubai: Naveen Sequeira Elected President of Karaval Milan

Dubai, Jun 28: Karaval Milan, the unified association of 19 parishes of Udupi district has elected Naveen Sequeira of maibhaas fame as its president for two years. He is the youngest president of Karaval Milan to date.

The elections were held recently at the India Sports Club in Dubai.

Outgoing president Eric D'Souza proposed a vote of thanks and handed over the reins to the new president-elect Naveen Sequeira at a function held at the latter's residence.

Alfred D'Souza of CAB Real Estate was the chief guest on the occasion. In his address Alfred exhorted the new committee to continue working for social causes and be torch-bearers for the Udupi region. He also promised his wholehearted support to "Karaval Milan" and its mission.

Naveen Sequeira in his acceptance speech thanked the members for reposing trust in his abilities to lead the organization and assured that he would do his very best to further strengthen "Karaval Milan".

He also mentioned that “Karaval Milan" is blessed with some of the most talented individuals in the Konkani cultural scene and it would be his endeavor to maximize their contribution.

Naveen Sequeira fondly known as ‘Maibhaas Naveen’ across UAE and the Gulf is a multi-talented youngster hailing from Barkur-Brahmavar region in the Kallianpur deanery. It was Naveen Sequeira who created ripples across the Konkani horizon way back in the early years of the new millennium by launching www.maibhaas.in. Though a number of Konkani websites have been running as of now, Naveen should be given the credit being the first one. Using Kannada script and running a website in Konkani was kind of a luxury those days but Naveen achieved what no one else did before. It was a beginning of a revolution of Konkani literary websites. He is re-launching the website very soon.

Naveen is also a writer of great repute both in Konkani and Kannada. He is also an efficient organiser and is the founder-convener and the main force behind SEVA (Service Entertainment Vision Action), a group of enthusiastic and like-minded youngsters promoting talents, nurturing culture and encouraging youth in the vicinity of Brahmavar.

Professionally too Naveen has been most sought-after web designer who has created and hosted number of websites for almost all the expatriate associations in UAE.

Rony Nazareth known by all as Rony Byndoor compered the programme in his usual graceful manner.

Talented youngster Goldina D’Souza election to the cultural committee is surely a step towards encouraging youngsters in honing their skills and also providing a voice to their views.

Sumptuous Mangalorean fare with some innovative dishes tickling the taste buds of the gathered was served on the occasion by Rajan Lewis of "Daddy's Kitchen".
