Udupi, Jul 10: Udupi Congress block chief secretary Janardhana Bhandarkar on Tuesday July 10 accused MLA Raghupati Bhat of illegal acquisition of land from KIADB.
Addressing a press meet, Bhadarkar said that Bhat had illegally aqcuired a portion of 110 acres of land from KIADB at Nandikoor, next to KPTCL sub-station.
He alleged that the government had in 2002 made 110.61 acres of land available to KIADB for a project promoting small scale industries. The land was to be developed by the ministry of small scale industries, but in 2009 Bhat allegedly wrote to the then chief minister B S Yeddyurappa and minister for industries Murugesh Nirani requesting to denotify 44 acres of the total land.
Bhandarkar said that Bhat gave away this 44 acres of land to a friend in Mumbai. The land is valued at Rs one crore an acre, but he sold it for a paltry Rs 5 crore, which will be reportedly paid to him in the form of 'donation', he alleged.
He urged the chief minister through the media to order Lokayukta probe into the matter and said that he would be providing all documents to prove the allegations.
Local Congress leaders were present.
