Kochi, Oct 11: Three people, including a youth from Sullia and his two female colleagues, were killed after a speeding Mini Cooper rammed into their motorcycle from behind near Moozhiyal, close to Suvarnodyanam in Nedumbassery, in the early hours of Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Iyas from Sullia in Karnataka, Devika (also identified as Deepika in some reports) from Wayanad, and Gopika from Mannarkkad in Palakkad district. According to the FIR registered by the Nedumbassery Airport police, the incident occurred around 1:45 am.

The victims were travelling on a motorcycle when the accused, identified as Suhail, allegedly crashed his Mini Cooper into them from behind. The violent impact threw the three victims onto the road, causing severe, fatal injuries to their heads and bodies. Iyas and Devika were rushed to a nearby hospital, while Gopika was taken to the Angamaly Taluk Hospital, but all three succumbed to their injuries.

According to sources, Suhail was allegedly driving at a speed of nearly 200 km/hr under the influence of drugs. Following the crash, he attempted to flee the scene but was intercepted and caught by local residents. When confronted, the accused reportedly argued with the locals and arrogantly threatened them, stating that his father would "take care of the situation."

Locals alleged that Suhail has a habit of driving luxury cars at extreme speeds and posting the videos as Instagram stories. He is reportedly the son of the owner of 'Iha Design', a business page boasting one million followers on social media.

The Nedumbassery police have registered a case against the accused, and further investigation is underway.
