Puttur: Two Killed, Eight Injured in Bus-Jeep Collision

Puttur, Jul 13: Two people were killed and eight others injured in an accident that occurred between a private bus and a jeep, near Perne on Mangalore-Bangalore highway 75, here on Thursday July 12.

The accident occured when a private bus plying to Uppinangady from Mangalore collided head-on with a jeep that was on its way to Ananthady from Uppinangady.

Kamala (60) and jeep driver Jagannath Gowda (42), both residents of Ananthady were killed. Kamala died on the spot while Jagannath breathed his last on the way to hospital.

Bharathi, Sumathi, Muttappa Gowda, Seethamma, Narayana Gowda, Thimmappa, Ranjini and 3-year-old Nithesh, all residents of Anathady were injured. They have been admited to a private hospital in Puttur.

The occupants of the jeep were returning from a marriage in Uppinangady Hall.
