Karkala: Siblings Drown in Farm Pond

Karkala, Jul 14: In a tragic incident, two children drowned in a pond created by a catchment area near Marathangadi Chikkabettu in Sanur Taluk on Friday June 13.

The deceased have been identified as Rashmi (5) and Rajneesh (3), children of Ramesh and Mamata from Moodbidri.

Ramesh, the father of the deceased child, worked as a labourer who plastered cement.While he was residing in Moodbidri, Mamata, his wife, resided at her mother’s place in Murathangadi with their two kids.

On Friday, Ramesh had left for his routine work in Moodbidri. In the afternoon, Mamata left home,to collect firewood and on her return back home, she did not find kids.

On enquiring with her mother, Meena, she found out that the children had gone to neighboring house to watch TV. When she went searching for her kids, they were not found at the neighbor’s house instead the duo was found dead in a pond near Chikkabettu.

 A case has been registered at the Karkala police station.
