Mangalore, Jul 14: Students of polytechnic colleges across the state, headed by the All College Student Association held a protest in front of DC office here on Friday July 13.
According to the new guidelines given by the education board, students who failed in more than four subjects in semesters of the diploma course would not be given admission to the next semester. Due to which majority of the students will be forced to lose a year.
Students expressed that, as per the old rule one can be admitted to the next year even after having 10 backlogs and thus saved the lives of as much as 2000 students.
The impact of the new carry over rule, has affected students belonging to the working community and others, complained a student. Even after pleading with the officials several times, they were sent back with a negative response.
In this regard students protested in front of the DC office and a street play was staged.
Dinakar Shetty, Varun Raj, Uttam Alva, Shamith S, Preetham Urvastore, Rakshith Akash Bhavan, Sachin, Lohith, Rahul, Bharath, Surendra, Nagarjun, Nihal Alape, Antony Nitte among others were present.
