Bhatkal: One Killed, Four Injured as Car Rams into Tree

Bhatkal, Jul 14: One person was killed and four others were injured after a maruti omni car in which they were travelling hit a tree near Honnavar on Saturday July 14 around 6.30 am.

The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Mohammed Ibrahim, son of Sahulhameed Shaikh. He died on the spot. The body was soon after taken to Bhatkal government hospital for post-mortem.

The car driver Ajaaz Shaikh, Sayeed Shaikh were seriously injured and admitted to Bhatkal Government Hospital. They were later shifted to Kundapur. Their condition is said to be critical.

Arfath Shaikh and Nurulameen Shaikh suffered injuries.

The family had gone for a picnic to Honnavar around 2 pm on Friday. They were returning back home when the accident took place about 3 km away from their house. 

Mohammed Ibrahim who was killed in the accident came from Kuwait two-and-a-half month ago to get married. Ajaaz also recently came from Muscat.

A case has been registered at Bhatkal Rural police station.
