Kundapur, Jul 18: The feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, was celebrated with great solemnity on Monday July 16 at 5 pm here at Carmel ashram, Katkere, Koteshwar in Kundapur varado.

The new parish priest of kundapur church, Fr Anil dsouza together with carmelite and denary priests concelebrated the festal eucharist.

In his inspiring homily, he appealed to the devotees to be like Our Lady, anchoring their life on God. Her profound faith, contemplative prayer and deep concern for others oriented her to a life of holiness filled with Gods presence. Do not get lost in the attraction of this fascinating world but be rooted in Jesus Christ.

It has become customary to celebrate this feast with great devotion and piety ever since the arrival of Carmelite Fathers in 1998. Devotees from Kundapur varado participated in large numbers. As a token of Mary's gift all were given the little scapular, the external symbol of Mary’s protection and blessings. Fr George Santhumayar, superior, thanked everyone and invoked Mother Mary’s protection on all families of the varado.
