Mangalore, Jul 18: A team led by Rajesh N S, a resident of Kukke Subramanya said that ‘Made Made Snana’ is a religious ritual based on the faith of devotees and it will continue the way it used to, without compromising with any alternate formula (as prescribed by Pejawar Swamiji recently).

However, if the findings of Asta Mangala Prashnam allows for such changes, it would be wholeheartedly welcomed, he said.
 
Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday July 18, he said that a letter from the state human rights commission has stated that it does not give any directions to the Kshetra as the ritual is taking place as per the wishes of devotees and not through any forceful action.

"Shivaramu, president of Karnataka State Backward Classes Awareness Forum and other opposers to the ritual want it to be banned, they can only preach their ‘ideas’ to the devotees. However, even if the government tries to ban the ritual or any further controversy takes place, it will be countered peacefully to uphold the reverence of the Kshetra."
 
Krishnaprasad Muniyangala, renowned architect who was present during the press meet said that the controversy was triggered when politics was brought into religion. "A person sitting in one corner of the state and giving statements in the media will not serve any purpose; rather the issue would be unnecessarily hyped in the media," he said.

He pointed out that the existence of the ritual is even mentioned in ‘Skanda Purana’ published by Mysore University and also in the Kshetra Purana book.
 
Laxmisha Gabladka, Vedic expert, said that the results shown by the findings of ‘Asta Mangala Prashnam’ could be followed in accordance with the ritual in the same form or could be compromised according to the formula of Pejawar Swamiji. He recalled an incident wherein a Muslim expressed his fear about the possible ban on Made Snana, as he had benefited from the ritual as per the suggestion of his own religious leader.

"No one has the right to stop the ritual of offering ‘Harake’ to god. The opinion of local people should be given importance," he said.
