Olympic Water Polo: US Women Sink Spain for Gold

London, Aug 10 (IANS/RIA Novosti): Beijing silver medalist the US took its first Olympic gold in women's water polo Thursday, sinking Spain 8-5 in the final.

Maggie Steffens, 19, scored five times to claim her prize as the tournament's top scorer and steer her team to victory.

Australia took the bronze medal by beating Hungary 13-11 earlier in the day.
