Kasargod: St Mary's Educational Institute Celebrates Onam

Kasargod, Aug 29: As Kerala, being God’s own country embellishes itself with a grand festive look, students of St Mary’s Educational Institute, Bela added color to the feast by celebrating Onam most elegantly on August 29.

Onam is the biggest and the most important festival of the state of Kerala. It is a harvest festival and is celebrated with joy and enthusiasm all over the state by people of all communities. According to a popular legend, the festival is celebrated to welcome King Mahabali, whose spirit is said to visit Kerala at the time of Onam. 

As a part of the celebrations ‘Pookkalam’ or the floral carpet was laid by the students.

The school parliament members took the oath during the same time. Fr Vincent D’ Souza, manager of the school, was the chief guest. 

Greeting all the students with the joy and happiness of the season, he felicitated the winners of various contest conducted in connection to Onam festivities.

In order to enhance the joy of the feast, different games and activities were held for the students. Grand Onasadya served at the end was most enjoyed and relished by all.
