Udupi, Aug 31: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Udupi, staged a protest near the service bus stand here on Thursday August 30 against the crisis in Assam and extending its support to the north-east people.

The VHP protestors said that Hindus cannot sit without reacting to the existing phase, especially as a Hindu was killed in the riots. "We protest the losses faced by the people of Assam in the violence," he said.

"A large number of students, employees and families are returning from Manipal, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai and Pune and others cities. The July 20 issue was not an isolated incident," they said.

The VHP demanded the government to implement all effective steps immediately to curb infiltration from Bangladesh and to detect the infiltrators, delete their names from electoral lists and deport them back in order to put a permanent stop to this problem. They also demanded that the National Register of Citizens (NRC) should be prepared without further delay and non-citizens should be treated accordingly.

"Tension between Bangaladeshi Muslims and local communities has prevailed in the region for many years. This has created many issues, including socio-economic and political problems. People from the north-east and Assam are aware of this and many organizations are known to contain Bangladeshi infiltration. This request was forwarded to both state and central governments, and VHP and many others also put in their efforts but received no response," they said.

They appealed to the state government to take necessary measures to keep the situation under control so that peace is maintained.

They claimed that RSS is rendering its support to the affected people. They are working in more than 60 camps, providing food, medicine, clothes and utensils and other needs.

VHP, Udupi has offered safety and security in Udupi and Manipal, and also appealed to the people of north-east and also throughout the country to maintain peace and harmony.

The whole world is worried about the incidents in the Assam region and they are looking for a solution to this very sticky and complicated border issue that is a big headache for both India and Bangladesh. Massacring of immigrants including aged, women and children are not the solution or a brave act instead it is inflicted the most barbarism, cruelty on humanity.
