Udupi : Little Rock Brahmavar Emerges Champion in Verbattle Competition

Udupi, Sep 2: Little Rock Indian School, Brahmavar emerged champions in the Junior Category of the prestigious Verbattle debate competition. 

Shivani L. Shenoy and Annapurna Chakrabarty of Class X formed the winning team of this mega event which concluded in Bangalore on Friday.  They won a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a championship trophy.  Mrs Sapna Rajesh, the mentor-teacher also won a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a trophy.

A second team from Little Rock comprising Clesy Joyana Mendonca and Sanjukta Yermal had also qualified to the State level.

81 teams selected from different regions had to fight it out for the final triumph.  The Verbattle format consists of different rounds called Skirmish, Combat, Confrontation and the final Face-off, lasting three days.  Very challenging topics are given an hour before the competition for each round, and the students had to defend their positions cogently and effectively.  It is a grueling test of one’s knowledge, communication, and leadership skills.

Dr. Sadhana Parashar, Director Training of CBSE gave away the prizes at a glittering ceremony.  Verbattle Vertex Founder and Chief Deepak Thimmaiah was also present at the function.  Both of them were all praise for the winning duo.
