Mangalore: Karnataka Christian Edu Society Celebrates Teachers' Day

Mangalore, Sep 1: The 150th anniversary celebration committee of CSI Shanthi Cathedral along with Karnataka Christian Educational Society celebrated Teachers' Day, here at Bishop Jathanna Auditorium, KTC campus Balmatta, on Sunday August 2.
 
Fr Prashant Madtha SJ, director of Ashirwad, Bangalore was the chief guest for the occasion. DR HR Cabral presided over the function.


























The programme began with a prayer song by the students of Karnataka Theological College.
 
Dr EVS Maben briefed about the activities of the 150th anniversary celebration committee and Dr Charles Furtado introduced the guest.
 
Fr Madtha in his address briefed about the transition of education since the early days. He said that earlier education was not easier as the people did not know the importance of education. To attract students towards school, playgrounds, picnic, summer camps along with various other activities were included along with studies, he added.
 
He hailed the role of Christian education institutions. He said the institutions brought students together leaving aside their caste and religion.
 
Fr Madtha also shared his experience as a teacher. He said that a feeling of satisfaction is obtained when the students express gratitude. Teachers should understand the mentality of the students, only then he/she can achieve success in his/her profession, he said.
 
According to him, teachers play a prime role in designing the future of the students. Teachers play an important role in promoting a student to a state of importance, he added.
 
Fr Madtha said that the relationship between the student and teacher plays a vital role. Only good relationship will cherish for a long period, he added.
 
On the occasion, Fr Madtha was honoured by Edward Karkara and other dignitaries for his service towards education.
 
Large number of teachers from various schools and colleges were present.
 
Dr V Basil Hans welcomed and Suman Paul compered.
