Bhatkal: Communal Harmony Day Celebrated at Anjuman Degree College

Bhatkal, Sep 5: The Anjuman degree college and PG centre celebrated the communal harmony day here recently.

The programme began with the recitation of Holy Quran by Esam Kharoori from second year BCom. An Urdu poem was recited by Nadeem Qausain, second year Bcom.

 

Principal Dr KC Nazeer welcomed the guests. He stated that the idea of the get together was to bring the youth of various communities, living in both the parts of the city on one common platform to celebrate the spirit of peace and brotherhood.

Professor Ravi Kaikini introduced the guests, principal of Jamia Islamia and Khateeb of Jamia Masji, Moulana Abdul Bari Nadvi said in his address that the religion Islam encompasses love affection compassion and peace. He also added that people should respect each and every one equally.

Whether rich or poor, talented or dull, from any background, religion etc this world is created by the Almighty for everyone we should not keep fighting with each other, he said.

 He said that it is observed that even animals do not fight with their own class, but humans being intellectual, fight with fellow brothers every other day for simple reasons in different parts of the world.

Guest of honor, Sudheer Kumar Reddy,  the new assistant superintendent of police in Bhatkal attending his first function here, said in his address that religion should not be brought into politics. He said that it should be known at what point the problem begins to break up the peace, and so people should cut the branches from that very point.

Bhatkal tasildar Dr Madhukeshwar chief guest of the function said in his address that communal harmony has become a hot debate and heated issue in this country, as we have received independence through great struggle and hard work.

“Religion stands for communal harmony and not for communal division” was the message given by all the speakers who were speaking on the occasion of communal harmony day.

An essay and elocution competition was held on the topic communal harmony for the college students. Prizes were distributed on this occasion to the top three winners. The competitions were held in English and Kannada languages.

Vice President of Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen ,Janab Kasimiji Ansar Saheb, presided over the function. Ahmed Damudi delivered the vote of thanks.

Professor Sahil took an oath along with the entire gathering. On the occasion Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen second vice president, Ismail Damudi, general secretary Abdur Rahim Jukaku, college board secretary Javed Hussain Armar, principal Dr K C Nazeer Ahmed, convenor of function professor S A Indikar and professor Manjunath Prabhu were present.
