Kundapur: Solar Street Lights To Brighten City

Kundapur, Sep 5: Under the sponsorship of Rotary Club Sunrise Kundapur, the inauguration of solar street lights was held at Wakwadi, Kalligudde circle in Kundapur on Sunday, September 2.

After inaugurating the solar powered light, Dr Devdas Rai, governor of Rotary club said, "The installation of such light source is mainly to create awareness among the rural people on the advantages of solar energy"; adding, he requested the locals to make the best use of it. 

At the occasion, Baskar was felicitated for sponsoring the solar light.

Assistant governor Abhinandan Shetty, Sathya Narayan Shetty, founder president Dinkar Shetty, Raj Shekar Hegde and members of rotary club were others present at the inaugural.

Club president Wakwadi Pramod Kumar Shetty welcomed while secretary Narasimha Holla thanked the gathering.

On behalf of the villagers, Venugopal Hegde spoke and congratulated the club for the work.

    Congratulations to whom so ever did this.
    One thing I just can not understand as to why such PROJECTS ARE NOT TAKEN UP on WAR FOOTING since it is very beneficial to the villagers and the Project makes best use of the freely available solar energy. Let there be many more such opportunities to the many more places in THULU NAAD:U so that let it me a model and shining NAAD:U fo others.Let there be more sponsorers who should be allowed to reap the benefit of subsidies and grants if available or if made available.

    Solar Energy offers a cheap alternative to other forms of expensive electricity sources. Germany sources close to 70 % Wind energy is another option.
