Mangalore, Sep 7 (DHNS): ABVP call for all college bandh is nothing but contempt of court, says former union minister .

Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary flayed the State government for withdrawing eight cases booked against the Akhila Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishat (ABVP) activists on Thursday.

He said the ABVP, which is a wing of Sangh Parivar, has been going against the law of the nation, by calling for college bundh now and then. The BJP lead State government has not taken steps to stop the ABVP from wrong doing, but has supported it by withdrawing cases against the ABVP activists, he alleged.

Addressing media persons here on Friday, Poojary said that despite the Supreme Court’s order on banning college bandh, the ABVP gave a call for all college bandh on Tuesday, which is nothing but the Contempt of Court. The BJP has also developed a strange trend of filing counter complaints against the victim’s party.

Be it in Uppinangady case, where a counter case was registered against Masood who had filed complaint against Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat for making derogatory speech or in Bellare incident, where the ABVP activists have filed a complaint against the girl victim, the BJP and its units are trying to curb the voice of the people, Poojary criticised and challenged the State government to take action against the culprits in Bellare incident, if the government has any morality. He said that any students’ wing irrespective of their affiliation to political parties should stop calling for college bandh.

On coalgate scam, he again flayed the Central BJP for obstructing the parliamentary procedures. “If the BJP thinks that there was scam in distribution of coal units, let it open up for healthy discussion in the parliament and give an opportunity to the Central government to putforth its views. Why obstruct the parliamentary procedures for no reason,” he asked.

He also held the BJP State governments responsible for allocating coal blocks without competitive bidding. It was the State government ruled by the BJP which had demanded the Central government not to opt for competitive bidding and had recommended the companies to the Central government and had issued licences. The Central government is not responsible for the coal scam, he claimed.

Mr. JP does not seem to regret the dastardly killing of a young student. While no one supports ABVP men attacking a girl student, dont be partial when you are condemning attacks. Every one is listening to you and your design for arranging this press conference to win some points and feel happy that your vote bank is safe, Mr. JP you are mistaken. You cannot fool around for too long. Please do some other social work to wash your sins

BJP need to be told their behavior is wrecking democracy, human rights, citizen's freedom, and above all national security - Bjp is in a hurry to destroy all that was done over decades of hard work. Mr. Poojary is absolutely right when he directly challenged BJP. Good work - Let them taste their own medicine, see how does it feel - Haridev
