Puttur: Mangalore KPT Student Drowns in Savanur Pond

Puttur, Sep 9: A 19-year-old boy from Mangalore drowned while taking bath in Gowri pond near Idyadi, Savanur on Saturday September 8 evening.

The deceased has been identified as Akash Rai, son of Santhosh Rai, resident of Asaigoli. He was a second year diploma student of KPT College.

As per the information received, it is learnt that Ashok had been to his friends place in Idyadi. Sources said that both the friends had gone to Gowri pond for a dip where Akash was pulled by the strong current and thus drowned.

Fire brigades with the help of locals are trying to retrieve the body.

A case has been registered at Kadaba police station.
