Udupi, Sep 9:
Due to a dispute that broke between Shiroor Math Swamiji and Sode Math Swamiji, two different chariots are being taken out during the procession on the occasion of Vittal Pindi on Sunday September 9.

The reason is not clearly known, but Shiroor Math Swamiji has taken out the silver chariot while Sode Math Swamiji has taken out the golden chariot.

On being asked the reason, Shiroor Math Swamiji said that last night lord Krishna appeared in his dreams and asked him to perform the rituals. When asked if he was unhappy for not being invited by Sode Math Swamiji for the programme he said that he need not be invited by anyone and he would obey only lord Krishna’s orders.

The clay idol of lord Krishna was taken in the silver chariot procession around Car Street after which it was immersed in the Madhwa Lake. The pot breaking ceremony was also held. Ladoos were distributed to the people.

Sode Math Swamiji was unavailable for his comments.

The crowd witnessed the entire event in thousands with devotion and discipline.

I was born at udupi and lived there for 25 yr and seen festivals like paryaya, mosaru kudike etc celebrated at udupi for many years
Udupi has great tradition .Tradition of tolerance co-existance,understanding.Swamigees of ashtamatts are religious as well as social leaders.People follow them with great respect and reverence.Mutt leaders should not involve in petty politcs and loose their respect in society

When Sri Krishna was invited to avoid “Mahabharata War” for famous “Krishna Sandhaan” Kauravas invited him with golden carpet to walk around. Sri Krishna laughed at Kauravas & whispered himself that these Kauravas do not know what valuable material put where? Here again in Udupi, let them take Sri Krishna with Gold or Silver Chariot, but he will stay and relax where people call him with love. We can also recollect the “Tulabhaara” ceremony conducted to please “Naarada Muni” just to teach lesson to “Gopiyaas” They put their all ornaments & jewellery in one pot to weigh and balance Sri Krishna but never took off until his dear “Radha” keep simply one “Paan” with “Om” written on “Kunkum” on back of the “Paan Leaf”. “Gold or Silver” se vichalith na ho paye “Murali” lekin kaise bachega pyar ka boli se “Nat Kat Gopal”?

Nice pictures and reminds me of my childhood days when we used to enjoy the mosaru kudike and veshadharis.

its very sorry and unfortunate that of late the politics has made its way in to the religion in general and udupi 8 mutts in particular....my udupi is great and i love it a lot.

Lord Krishna said invest all your Ego in me, and become devoid of any ego or self-centeredness. But now ego is taking the place of selfless devotion. Should devotees be silent spectotators? Matadhishas existence purely depends on devotees' faith. If devotees lose faith in Matha & Mathadeeshas the very existence of Matha & Mathadeeshas itself will be a question mark.
Is this diversity in unity or multiplicity in diversity, or is multiplicity in the blood of Indians just like 6200 castes and Gods?
