Beltangady: Seven Thieves Arrested, Valuables Worth Rs Five Lac Seized

Beltangady, Sep 12: Police on Tuesday September 11 arrested seven thieves and seized Rs five lac worth of valuables at Dharmasthala.

Police confiscated a Tavera car, gold ornaments, Rs 32,000 in cash, and four mobile phones all together worth Rs five lac.

The arrested are identified as Srinivas (32) from Betagiri in Gadag district, Moulana Saab (35), Suresh Soma Reddy (28), Lakkava (45), her daughter Sharada (24), Thimmappa (35), and Kamala Parvathi (65).

It is learnt that the accused used to carry out their activities in holy places by deviating the minds of devotees and looting them.

SI Yogesh Kumar and team arrested them when they tried to steal at Netravati Snana Gatta in Dharmasthala.

The culprits were produced before the judge. It is suspected that the accused were involved in many serial thefts earlier.
