Udupi: Maruti Omni Engulfed in Flames

Udupi, Sep 13: A Maruti Omni (KA 20 B 2464) went up in flames near Raj Tower at city bus stand here on September 13.

The car owner Harish Bangera from Kuthpady, heard a sound while driving and he stopped the car to check.

He found smoke billowing out and spreading over the car. Immediately, he his son who was in the car rushed to safety.

They were travelling from Manipal to their hometown in Udupi.

The police said the reason for the fire may be short circuit.

Locals and fire safety personnel together extinguished the fire.

Udupi town police station have registered a case.

    We have heard lot of cases in DK/Udupi dist recently about Maruti Omni catching fire.Better Maruti Omni's are fitted with mini water tankers on the top for emergency needs.
