Ranchi, Sep 13: The Konkani-Speaking Community of Ranchi, Jharkhand, celebrated the Nativity Feast on September 9, 2012. The celebrations took place at Nazareth Convent, Ranchi. Sr. Jessy Saldanha, SCN, the Superior of the Convent, played the perfect host and was extremely generous in extending all help possible.
The solemn Eucharistic celebration began at 10.30 am presided over by Fr. Sunil Crasta. Fr. Joseph Prasad Pinto, OFM Cap, blessed the new rice. Fr. Anand, OFM Cap, preached an inspiring homily. Frs. John Crasta, Fr. Vijay Kamat, SJ, Fr. Gilbert D’Souza, SJ, Fr. Alphonse, OFM Cap were the other con-celebrants.
A beautiful cultural program and a few games for the invitees were the highlights of the celebrations. Besides, there was a sumptuous meal that all enjoyed. Fr. Sunil Crasta, Mrs. Helga Chen, the Bethany Sisters and the Seminarians from St. Albert’s College, Ranchi, organized the day-long get-together. Many friends generously contributed to the celebrations. It was a joy to see more than 70 Konkani-speaking people actively participating in the Holy Mass and the subsequent rendezvous.
