Kasargod, Sep 14: A couple were injured when a car rolled down a ditch near Eriyal bridge on the national highway.
The injured have been identified as Shahnawaz Malik (30) and his wife Mariyam Shahina (23), residents of Talangare Pallikkal. They have been admitted to a private hospital in Mangalore.
The accident took place at around midnight on Wednesday September 12. They were on their way to Kasargod from Mangalore, when Malik lost control and the car rolled off the road.
The locals rushed to the spot on hearing the sound of the falling car, and shifted the injured to hospital.
Eriyal bridge is known to be a major accident zone. A few days ago, a lorry had fallen down the same ditch, resulting in the death of the cleaner. In another incident, a jeep rolled over and a home guard was killed in the accident.
