Mangalore, Sep 14: "Komu Souharda Vedike in collaboration with Patyapusthakagala Kesarikarana Virodha Horata Samiti will organize a seminar against saffronization of textbooks on Sunday September 16," said Suresh Bhat Bakrabailu, district president of the Vedike at a press meet here at Hotel Woodlands on Friday September 14.

Addressing mediapersons, he alleged that the textbooks of class 5 and class 8 have already been saffronized, and soon those of other classes also will follow suit.

"The draft of the textbooks is a clear example of BJP's way of spreading Sangh Parivar ideology which will have a bad impact on children at their tender age, he said.

The textbook published are against the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2005 guidelines issued by NCERT," he added.

Walter Maben said that there is a need to create awareness among people on these aspects and so a seminar will be organized at Loyolla Hall on Sunday September 16 at 10 am.

People from across Karnataka will be participating in this state-level seminar and a book relating to saffronization will also be released on the occasion, he said.

Alwyn Colaco, vice-president of Komu Souharda Vedike, Mohammed Kakinje, secretary, Nyzil Pereira, Leena Fernandes, Denis D’Silva, Victor D’Silva among others were present.
