Uddhav to Tour Maharashtra and Meet Party Workers

Mumbai, Dec 2 (IANS): Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray Sunday reiterated his resolve to fight for 'Marathi Manoos' and 'Hindutvavaad'. Uddhav will soon tour the state to meet party workers across the state.

In his first interview in party mouthpiece Saamna after the death of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, Uddhav said he would not take the place of his father, who was irreplaceable and would stay Shiv Sena supremo.

He said that the controversy over the memorial to Bal Thackeray at Shivaji Park was unnecessary.

Starting Monday, Uddhav is set to tour the state and meet party workers.

The tour will begin in western Maharashtra's Kolhapur district, where he will meet party workers and elected representatives, whether of local governing bodies or parliament.

Similar meetings for various regions will be held Dec 5 in Nashik, Dec 7 in Ratnagiri, Dec 14 in Nagpur and Dec 16 in Aurangabad.

Uddhav will meet activists from all the 35 districts of the state, besides workers of the Yuva Sena, headed by his son, Aditya.

A majority of the meetings are scheduled as closed-door interactions, attended by top party functionaries like Subhash Desai, Manohar Joshi, Liladhar Dake, Gajanand Kirtikar, Ramdas Kadam, Diwakar Raote and Sanjay Raut.

This will be Uddhav's first independent attempt to reach out and strengthen his rapport with the party's rank and file, after the death of his father two weeks ago.
