Daijiworld Media Network – Kushalnagar (VM)

Kushalnagar, Dec 7: In a ghastly accident, eight persons including seven of a family were killed on the spot when the car they were travelling in collided head-on with another car near Bailukoppa here on Thursday December 6.

The deceased have been identified as former zilla panchayat member of Mysore Chowdaiah (50), Suntikoppa corporator Shafi (43), his wife Ramiza (36), their children Irfan (19), Imran (16), Tasmiya (13), Afnan (4) and brother Rafiq (26).

The incident took place when Shafi was travelling to Periyapatna (his mother's place) along with his family via Suntikoppa-Kushalnagar road in his Maruthi 800 car (KA 20 5934). An Indigo car (KA 45 M 0177) plying from the opposite direction rammed into their car.

The impact of the incident was such that six persons died on the spot, while two children died at a hospital in Mysore. The car was completely smashed.

As per the information received, the tragic incident took place at around 6.45 pm. It is learnt that the car was driven by Shafi's son at the time of the accident.

Shafi along with his brother Rafiq owned a shop in Suntikoppa. Shafi use to stay with his family at Suntikoppa while Rafiq used to catch bus daily and go to their mother's place at Periyapatna. But on Thursday, the family decided to visit the mother by car.

The Mysore-Bantwal road where the accident took place was recently widened. But as the road is steep, many accidents takes place. There is no divider for the road other than in city limits.

As the news of the accident spread, hundreds of people gathered, and the traffic too was blocked for several hours around 1 km area. The bodies were shifted to Kushalnagar Government hospital.

A case has been registered in Bailukoppa police station.

Very sad news, the photos itself shows the depth of the accident.Un experienced young drivers should not be let to drive on highways specially in the dusk as the sun sets, the front view is confusing and there are drivers of different mentality driving their own way.So we should be cautious to avoid accidents and specially when we have our families and kids on board. New technology cars are faster and gains momentum faster and so needs some extra skill to handle these faster cars. The whole family was taken far away from,by their own son how sad?????.Let this not happen to anyone in this part of the world.

My heart goes out to the bereaved members of the family. May the departed soul rest in peace. Pray that God may give strength to the bereaved members of the family to bear this great loss.

Prevention is always better than cure. Life is one time and those who have gone abode, will never come back. But at the same time, we too have equal responsibility of our own life too. Might be inexperience by the driver, or over tiredness or non concentration on the road by driver, speaking to the passengers while driving/ mobile phone too, or might have turned behind to talk to his members of the family while driving which might have lost control, might be over speed by the inexperienced driver may have caused this tragic accident and loss of 7 lives.
