Doha: 6-year-old Boy from Kerala Drowns in Pool

Doha, Dec 9 (Gulf Times): A six-year-old Indian boy drowned in a swimming pool at a recently built villa compound in Abu Hamour on Friday.

The victim, identified as Thomas Nettickaden, was the son of Anshu Thomas Nettickaden, who is the sales manager at the Doha office of a UAE-based company, located in Barwa Village, Wakra.

Thomas was a Class 1 student at MES Indian School. He was reportedly cycling near the swimming pool of the compound where his family stayed, sources said. At the time of the accident, no one else was in the pool, they said.

One of his family friends said the boy knew swimming and used to frequent the pool for kids in the same compound. His parents were at home at the time of the accident, he said. No further information is available on how the tragedy occurred.

The victim’s family came to Qatar a little more than a year ago after his father Anshu shifted to Doha. Anshu also had an earlier stint in the country between 2004 and 2006, said a close friend of the family. His wife Veena is employed with Maersk.

Besides his parents, Thomas leaves behind a three-year-old sister. The victim’s family hails from Chalakudy in Kerala’s Thrissur district.

Arrangements are being made to fly the body home.

On hearing about the tragic death of the boy, a large number of the community members, including teachers of MES Indian School, visited his house.

Dear Sachidanad, based on the limited information that is available, it is cruel of you to assume that the child died because the parents were not dedicating their time to him. It is better to know the complete facts before we put ourselves in the judge's seat.

May Thomas's soul rest in peace in the hands of our Almighty Father. My deepest sympathy to Parents of Thomas, May they be strengthened by the power of the following verses,

1 Thes 4:16-18 "For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord."

Psalm 116:15 "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

Philippians 3:20-21 "But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself."

    Take care and God blesses

Dear Parents, every now and then, we hear about tragic incidents like this, yet few accidents allowed to happening by none other than “We”. No doubts after spending long hours in official duties and driving, we are exhausted by the time we reach our home, but our Children are still energetic and want to play. We always claim that “We have no time to play with Children” but one simple question must be asked ourselves that “We have time to devote to our official duties not less than 12 to 14 hours in a day but can’t we devote one or two hours for ourselves to our children?” Little Thomas Nettickaden lost his life because of whom, we can realize now. May God rest his soul in peace or grant him another life for his soul within Anshu Thomas’s family itself
