Mangalore: Archbishop Ambrose Madtha's Mortal Remains to be Brought to City

Mangalore, Dec 12: The mortal remains of Archbishop Ambrose Madtha, who passed away in a tragic road accident in Ivory Coast, will be brought to city in the next three-four days, said sources.
The last rites are expected to be held on Sunday December 16 or Monday December 17. However, the exact date will be confirmed only after the completion of Vatican procedures which are under progress. Then on, it will take about 20 hours to bring the body to Mangalore.
A press statement in this regard from Bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza is expected on Thursday December 13.
Earlier, the family of Archbishop Madtha and the parish priest of Belthangady parish, where Archbishop Madtha belonged, had sent an offical request to the Apostolic Nunciature of India about their interest to perform the final rites at Holy Redeemer's Church, Belthangady.
Papal envoy to Ivory Coast, Archbishop Ambrose Madtha passed away on Saturday evening in a serious car accident in Ivory Coast.
According to preliminary information, the accident occured in Biankouma, west of the capital, Abidjan. The driver also died in the accident, while the Nuncio’s secretary and a religious sister were injured.
