Mangalore, Dec 12: Former chief minister and KJP president B S Yeddyurappa on Wednesday December 12 said that KJP was formed with an intention to make the state an ideal one, as he has already ‘enjoyed’ the CM's post.
"I have already enjoyed being in the CM's chair, and hence I have no such desire now. Rather, I wish to fulfil the need for a regional party in the state so as to obtain all support from the centre, like other states ruled by regional parties," Yeddyurappa said.
Addressing a press meet held at the Circuit House here on Wednesday, Yedddyurappa said that minorities, SCs, STs and the youth are showing more interest in KJP.
"KJP is a party for all. There will not be any discrimination between Christians, Muslims and Hindus. When churches were attacked in Mangalore during my regime in 2008, I did not spare anybody," he said.
Asked to comment on BJP's threat of disciplinary action on 14 MLAs and 7 MLCs for taking part in the Haveri convention, Yeddyurappa dared BJP to dissolve the government and go for a fresh election.
He also said that KJP candidates will mostly be from the minority community, youngsters and women and the party will contest from all the 224 assembly constituencies in the state.
He ruled out the possiblity of coalition with any party and said more number of MPs should be elected from KJP so that the center cannot take a single decision without consulting the state.
Yeddyurappa who arrived in the city after visiting temples in Kerala, said that senior personalities like U R Ananthmurthy, Chandrashekar Patil, Hampa Nagarajaiah, Nallur Prasad among others have shown their support to him after KJP was launched.
Yeddyurappa also stated that KJP will contest in the upcoming elections for local bodies.
KJP chief secretary M D Laxminarayana, Balakrishna Borker, Ravindra Shetty, Azeez Baikampady, Ravindra Ujire, Abubakar Kairangala, Ramachandra Baikampady, Mariyamma Thomas among others were present at the press meet.
