Fathima Retreat House - a landmark in the City of Mangalore was built over sixty-five years for a specific purpose. The place of worship was a brain-child of Father Letelier of sacred memory. Over the years thousands of people have taken part at the services conducted at this center.

The place was constructed when the population of The City of Mangalore was small - People from far used to frequent the place and to serve the prevailing need residential areas were added on to house the visiting people. However during the recent years the place was not found large enough to provide necessary facilities for the comfort of the people. It was observed that the existing chapel used to be overfull during the services and more particularly during The Sunday Services. Considering these factor The Jesuit Fathers found it expedient to build a larger Church to provide the minimum comforts to the people in general. In this context after taking into account all aspects the management has rightly decided to put up an edifice to serve the growing need.

As it was announced the structure would cost over Rs.3,40,00,000/- What is the source of finance? The Jesuit Fathers depend on the good will of the people of Mangalore and people from all over the world.

I have no doubt that the general public will readily come forward to support the common and good cause.

Good news to all Manglorians. Our faith formation starts from the Holy Sacrament of Baptism through our Churchs. If one finds to leave the Church bcz of his lack of experience the faith is not Church problem is like this: a wire of electricity not connected to the main source of supply there is no light that means do not know how to worship / pray to God. Blessing comes its own way when our deeds are right and work for others. We should not take the faith for granted of our holy faith. God Bless new Church of Fatima and those works for that cause and dononrs.
