Three of the five arrested were produced in the court on Friday January 18 and remanded in police custody till January 24. They were identified as Raghavendra, Umesh and Naveen from Banashankari, Rajajinagar and Adugodi areas of Bangalore. Prior to be being produced in the court, the three were taken to Kundapur government hospital amid tight security for a medical checkup.

As of now, no further information is available about the other two suspects who were arrested.

Sources said that on Saturday January 19 police may take the accused to the spot where Adiga was allegedly kidnapped on January 7 and interrogate them further on the sequence of events.

These professionals (am deliberately calling them that way because apparently it's their job) captured so quickly could also mean that even Police knew who had the potential to pull this off. Really wondering if this is all sham as the time lost in prison is factored into the supari amount of Rs. 25 Lakhs.
Everyone reading this article here it appears are convinced that these professionals are guilty. If these guys are really professionals won't they have a team of lawyers for the clean up act who will convince the judges about the usual lack of evidence, which is ofcourse police's job. I may be jumping the gun here. But the pace at which this is unravelling is really making me wonder if this will be played until it fades away from public memory. Then on it's just the Adigas who without the enterprising Adiga are anyway decapitated and may be are expected to mind thier own business. Anyway, I hope the police and Judiciary realize that if this case is not brought to logical conclusion, then they will be indirectly contributing to the business of Rs.25 Lakhs to knock one head off.
Lastly if Rs. 25 Lakhs made business sense, what was really at stake?

The Judgement goes not only with material facts & evidence, but also with Punishment laid in the Law. Our Central Govt. is still not bothered with repeated cases & protests, & still not interested in making the Law more stricter. They are just passing time with Statements.

Police must not divulge how they caught the culprits. It makes their life difficult in catching the future crimes.

Many activists routinely face serious physical assaults as well as other punishment for bringing the corrupt under a scanner and demanding greater government transparency. The situation has become too critical for the government to ignore any longer.
Given that the UPA government doesn't have too many trophies to flaunt since it came to power in 2004, the RTI is certainly one of its crowning achievements. But this achievement can be sullied if RTI activists continue to die in mysterious circumstances. Not only should Vasudeva Adiga's death be seriously and fully investigated and the guilty, if any, be punished, the government needs to take adequate measures to protect RTI activists.
Police must take complaints about threats to RTI activists seriously. It would be a cruel joke if RTI remains on the statute books, but the law and order machinery fails to protect those who make use of its provisions.

This happens because the culprits think that they can get away at most with few years of imprisonment. All should be hanged.

There are lot of people in India including undivided DK who have got lot of illegal money which is obtained by not paying taxes on business income. This money is being invested into real estate mainly land. These people use their money power to acquire land from poor villagers. The first question one should ask in this case is from where this Rs. 25 lakhs have come and bring all those involved to the book.
