Sao Paulo, Mar 20 (IANS/EFE): Recreated with palm fibers and paper cuttings, the landscape of northern Brazil plays a leading role at the 35th Sao Paulo Fashion Week.

Sustainability was the premise imposed by the brothers Humberto and Fernando Campana, entrusted with decorating the main setting for the SPFW, the Bienal building designed by the late Oscar Niemeyer in the heart of Ibirapuera Park.

As a way of getting back to Brazilian roots, extreme simplicity was the guiding principle in creating a space of greens, gold and earth tones, and in transforming the columns into coconut palms and the benches into a land where cacti grow.

The event began after some delay with Animale on the runway, for which designer Priscilla Darolt brought the wild sensuality of Bali into the world of the sophisticated woman with sharply defined prints inspired by the flora and fauna.

The SPFW was held much earlier than its usual date and not that long after its previous presentation, which was last October.
