London, Mar 20 (IANS): Singer Katy Perry has reportedly split from boyfriend John Mayer for the third time.

The "Wide Awake" singer, who broke up with Mayer after two weeks of dating him since last August and again briefly in October, before reconciling, has again gone splitsville with him, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

However, her friends predict the break up may not be permanent.

"It's sad. It's not over until it's over. You have to see how things play out," said a source.

"She's leaving the window open. They both have been so focused on work," the source added.

The duo sparked engagement rumours last month after Mayer presented her with a heart-shaped ruby ring for Valentine's Day.

Mayer recently described their relationship as very human and insisted his romance with the singer felt totally natural.

"For the first time in my life I don't feel like I'm in a celebrity relationship. I know it is high profile. It's hard to explain. For me it feels like something that's very human," said the 35-year-old guitarist.

"Marriage is definitely on the cards, but not anytime soon," he said.
