Fans blame Telugu actor for alcohol addiction!

Hyderabad, Apr 5 (PTI): The Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission (APSHRC) called for a report from the state police after two youths, fans of Telugu film superstar Mahesh Babu sought action against him over his advertisement promoting a liquor brand.

Two master degree students T Satish Kumar and B Amru Naik, from Nalgonda district, filed a petition before the APSHRC here stating that they are fans of Mahesh Babu, and alleged after seeing the actor featuring in an advertisement endorsing a liquor brand, they too started consuming alcohol and got addicted to drinks.

The petitioners further alleged that they being the fans "blindly" followed the actor, however, now they were incurring daily expenses of Rs 1,000 for the drinks.

Moreover, alcoholism affected their health and they were unable to attend job interviews, they claimed even as Naik asserted that his wife "deserted" him over his drinking habit.

The duo alleged that the advertisement did not carry any statutory warnings (on ill-effects of consuming alcohol) and sought for suitable compensation besides action against the actor as per law, the liquor company and for removal of the flexi-boards of the advertisement.

"Being a celebrity, he should not have given such an advertisement," they added.

The Commission, after going through the complaint, asked the Director General of Police (DGP) to file a report over the matter before it within 3 weeks.

Yes, Negatives things such as foul language, crying, screaming, hot arguments, are all used in Reality shows of TV just for positive results which means for increasing of TRP. In fact all these nagetive things are just rehearsed.
Actors always act, even in real life or in Advertisement. They do not really consume such items for which they advertise.

P S Shetty you are correct. Negative Publicity for Positive Results - is very powerful mode of advertisement. Many times this is in the form of News item. Producers of some Movie OR Manufacturers of some Products Pay some amount to some jobless Lawyers and make them file suit against the Company OR the Movie producer OR the CELEBRETIES on some trivial pretext, and attract the attention of the Public towards their Products through such news item. As everyone knows such suit will not stand scrutiny in the Court and will be dismissed, which will give publicity second time with greater effect.

For Example - atleast 100 people must have read this news in Daiji, and out of them at least 10 will try to find out which Brand liquor for which Maheshbabu advertised, and out of these 10 readers at least 2 will remember this brand and spread this news among their friends. See how this negative news procured two loyal customers for that liquor brand!

There is on Phrase in the Advertisement Field - that is " Nagative Publicity for Positive results".
Accordingly that particular liquor manufacturing company must have given money to these two person to file case against Hero Mahesh ( of course with his concurrence) to draw the attention of general public towards that liquor Advt.

Some Kannadda & Hindi Movie Heros are also doing Ads for Alcohol companies. Money minded film heroes and Cricket players should have some social responsibility. Because people revere them. A recent survey has revealed that eve-Teasing is increasing among youths only because of the Indian movies where they show that Hero always harass or rags heroine in college or on the Roads and at last wins her.

What a nice excuse for alcohol addiction! If a person pursuing masters degree does not have the capacity to differentiate between good and bad, and follows his so-called role model blindly, then he needs some sort of rehabilitation. Both should have turned to their parents for advice on alcohol before starting to drink alcohol. By the way Naik's wife has done the right thing by deserting him.
